Utilize Whole Foods Market’s Website

Whole Foods Market is known for selling only organic and all-natural products. This chain has stores set-up all across America, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Unfortunately for me, the nearest Whole Foods Market is about an hour and a half away. I’d love to get a petition together to get one of these grocery stores in my area.

When the stomach bug hit our house hard I found myself purchasing a large amount of gingerale. I got to thinking about the ginger ingredient, and wondering what other benefits it may have for our bodies. Here is what I found out.

1. Nausea and Vomiting: Ginger truly does aid in suppressing nausea and vomiting as I stated above. This I can attest to first hand. One thing I learned, however, was that you must choose a gingerale that actually has ginger in it. Surprisingly, many carry the name gingerale, but don’t actually have a drop of ginger in them.

2. Seasickness: I wasn’t sure how my kids were going to do on our first cruise, so I brought along a bottle of ginger. I actually heard somewhere that ginger works better than any patch or seasickness pill. The girls each took a ginger capsule before boarding the boat and never had any issues with seasickness.

Healthy Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe

With all of the germs going on in my county, I decided to make some healthy, homemade chicken noodle soup to help build up our immune systems. I always use all organic vegetables and chicken that has not been injected with an array of hormones.

You will need the following ingredients to make your chicken soup:

  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 cups of shredded chicken (no skin)
  • 3 stalks of celery chopped
  • 3 carrot sticks chopped
  • 1 cup of diced potatoes
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 diced tomato
  • 2 cups kidney beans
  • ½ cup lima beans
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh parsley
  • 1 chicken boulion cube
  • 1 tsp. poultry seasoning

Sugar has been connected to obesity, diabetes, heart attack and stroke, but artificial sweeteners may not be much better.

Sugar is to pastries what tobacco is to cigarettes. Twinkies are like shots of vodka and a sweet tooth is just as bad as alcoholism or smoking. Applesauce is cheap when purchased in a large jar. I love to use it to make a healthy breakfast for those weeks that seem busier than usual. I’ll make the applesauce muffins on Sunday, and then individual wrap them so that they can be grabbed on-the-go during the week. My kids love anything that even resembles a muffin, so I feel good about feeding them one that is void of chocolate chips and oil.
